About This Role
Manages the daily operations of a CEYPETCO or Lanka IOC fuel station — fuel sales, cashiering, stock management, safety compliance, and staff management. Over 1,000 fuel stations operate in Sri Lanka. NVQ or management diploma minimum; promoted from station attendant roles in many cases. Revenue potential linked to fuel volume bonuses.
A Day in the Life
A Fuel Station Manager oversees all daily operations of a petrol station, from managing fuel sales and inventory to supervising staff, ensuring customer service, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. It's a hands-on role requiring strong organizational and people skills.
- Oversee daily fuel sales, cashiering, and reconciliation of cash and card transactions.
- Manage fuel stock levels, place orders, and supervise fuel deliveries to prevent shortages.
- Supervise and train station attendants, manage their shifts, and ensure high service standards.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve operational issues efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the station premises, including pumps, convenience store, and restrooms.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities, arranging for maintenance as needed.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for management.
Work Environment
Works in a dynamic retail environment, primarily indoors in the station office/convenience store, but also outdoors supervising fuel pumps. Involves interaction with customers and staff, and exposure to fuel fumes and varying weather conditions.
