A Day in the Life

You teach dance — Sri Lankan classical dance (Kandyan, Low Country, Sabaragamuwa), or contemporary forms — to students at a school, dance institute, or private studio, preserving cultural heritage and developing physical and artistic expression.

  • Teach dance technique, posture, and footwork appropriate to the dance form
  • Guide students through choreography for school performances and examinations
  • Prepare students for A/L Aesthetic stream (Dancing) examinations
  • Conduct warm-up and conditioning exercises to prevent injury
  • Organise and direct performances for school events — Annual Concert, National Day, Avurudu
  • Teach dance theory — history, cultural context, costume, and music of dance forms
  • Assess student technique and progress through practical evaluations
  • Maintain costumes, instruments, and performance materials
