Training & Development Manager
About This Role
Designs and delivers service standard training for hospitality staff.
A Day in the Life
Design, deliver, and evaluate learning and development programmes that build employee skills, improve performance, and support the organisation's strategic capability needs.
- Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) through surveys, performance data, and stakeholder interviews
- Design training programmes — e-learning modules, classroom sessions, on-the-job learning, and blended approaches
- Manage the annual L&D calendar and training budget
- Coordinate with external training providers and institutions for specialist programmes
- Facilitate leadership development, induction, and technical skills training sessions
- Evaluate training effectiveness using Kirkpatrick model (reaction, learning, behaviour, results)
- Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) — content, enrolments, and completion reports
- Partner with business heads to develop function-specific competency frameworks
Work Environment
Large organisations across all industries — banks, telecoms, retail groups, and manufacturing companies. Sri Lanka has a growing L&D professional community supported by CIPM (Chartered Institute of Personnel Management) and IPM (Institute of Personnel Management). The National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) and the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) are key public sector counterparts.
