A Day in the Life
You lead complex industrial automation projects — designing control systems, supervising commissioning, mentoring junior engineers, and setting automation strategy for manufacturing or industrial clients.
- Lead automation system design — define architecture, select components, create control philosophy
- Review and approve PLC programs, HMI designs, and electrical schematics from junior engineers
- Manage project commissioning and factory acceptance testing (FAT/SAT)
- Provide technical direction to PLC programmers, panel builders, and field technicians
- Liaise with clients on technical requirements, change requests, and project milestones
- Perform risk assessments and safety system design (SIL/ATEX where applicable)
- Troubleshoot complex system integration issues across PLC, SCADA, and field devices
- Develop technical proposals and cost estimates for new automation projects
