A Day in the Life
Lead the organisation's sourcing, tendering, and supplier management activities — ensuring goods and services are procured at optimal quality, cost, and delivery terms while managing supplier risk and compliance.
- Develop and execute category procurement strategies aligned with organisational spend priorities
- Lead supplier identification, pre-qualification, tendering, and evaluation processes
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and SLAs with key suppliers
- Manage supplier performance through regular reviews and scorecards
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and (where applicable) public procurement guidelines
- Collaborate with Finance on budgets, cost savings tracking, and working capital management
- Manage contracts across the procurement lifecycle — from drafting through to renewal or termination
- Maintain an approved supplier register and manage vendor onboarding
Work Environment
Manufacturing companies, conglomerates, government institutions, hospitals, and large service organisations. CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) has an active Sri Lanka chapter and the qualification is highly valued. Public sector procurement follows government procurement guidelines (National Procurement Agency). Private sector procurement focuses on cost reduction and supplier development.
