A Day in the Life
Oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the organisation, ensuring that resources, processes, and people are aligned to deliver products or services efficiently, on time, and within budget.
- Monitor key operational KPIs — throughput, quality, cost, turnaround time — and take corrective action
- Plan and schedule staffing, equipment, and materials to meet production or service targets
- Chair daily/weekly operations review meetings with team leaders and department heads
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Liaise with Finance on budgeting, variance analysis, and cost control measures
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality management standards
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships to maintain supply chain reliability
- Prepare operations reports for senior management and the Board
Work Environment
Mid-to-large organisations across manufacturing, logistics, financial services, hospitality, and retail. Operations Managers in Sri Lanka oversee diverse workforces and often deal with power interruptions, supply chain delays, and shifting labour availability. The role is highly cross-functional — bridging HR, Finance, and front-line teams.
