Precision manufacturing technician

MEDIUM Demand

A Day in the Life

You manufacture complex, tight-tolerance components using precision machining, grinding, and measurement processes — ensuring parts meet exacting dimensional specifications for engineering, medical, aerospace, or defence applications.

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Set up and operate precision machining equipment — CNC mills, turning centres, grinders
  • Select and qualify cutting tools and machining parameters for tight tolerances
  • Perform in-process measurement using precision instruments (CMM, micrometers, bore gauges)
  • Complete first-article inspection reports for new production runs
  • Identify and correct out-of-tolerance conditions during production
  • Maintain machine calibration records and precision equipment logs
  • Collaborate with quality engineers on non-conformance resolution
