A Day in the Life
A Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist spends their day designing systems to track project progress, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting on impact. This involves developing indicators, creating surveys, using specialized software, and presenting findings to stakeholders to ensure projects are effective and accountable.
- Designing and implementing M&E frameworks, plans, and indicators for development projects.
- Developing data collection tools (surveys, questionnaires, interview guides) using digital platforms.
- Managing and overseeing data collection processes, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data to assess project performance and impact.
- Preparing comprehensive M&E reports, dashboards, and presentations for donors and stakeholders.
- Conducting baseline, midline, and endline evaluations.
- Providing technical support and training to program staff on M&E best practices.
- Contributing to project design to ensure measurable objectives and indicators.
Work Environment
Works in a hybrid environment, combining office-based data analysis and report writing with occasional field visits for data collection or training. The role requires a meticulous and analytical approach, often working independently or within a small M&E unit, collaborating closely with program and senior management.
Typical hours: 40h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
