About This Role
Based in a district or field office to coordinate project activities at community level — mobilising community groups, facilitating training, and ensuring beneficiary targeting. Works for Sarvodaya, World Vision, ZOA Refugee Care, Oxfam, Save the Children, and other INGOs active in Sri Lanka.
A Day in the Life
A Field Coordinator spends their day immersed in community activities, overseeing project implementation, mobilizing local groups, and ensuring that development initiatives reach the intended beneficiaries. They act as the crucial link between the NGO's main office and the communities it serves.
- Coordinating and supervising project activities at the community level.
- Mobilizing and engaging community groups, volunteers, and local leaders.
- Facilitating training workshops and awareness sessions for beneficiaries.
- Monitoring project progress and collecting data from the field.
- Preparing regular field reports on activities, challenges, and achievements.
- Ensuring proper targeting and selection of beneficiaries according to project criteria.
- Managing field-level logistics, resources, and small budgets.
- Representing the NGO at local government meetings and community forums.
Work Environment
Works primarily in rural or semi-urban communities, often in challenging conditions. Involves significant travel within the district, interacting directly with diverse community members, local government officials, and project staff. The work is hands-on and community-focused.
