A Day in the Life
You design integrated mechatronic systems — combining mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software elements — to create automated machines, robotic systems, or intelligent industrial equipment.
- Define system requirements and develop mechatronic architecture for new products or machines
- Design mechanical structures using CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD Mechanical)
- Select actuators, sensors, motors, and drives for mechatronic applications
- Design electrical schematics and control system architecture
- Program PLCs, microcontrollers, or embedded systems for automated control
- Integrate and test mechatronic prototypes — mechanical, electrical, and software together
- Prepare technical design documentation and manufacturing specifications
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams on producibility and assembly of designs
