About This Role
Creates makeup looks for weddings, photoshoots, TV/film productions, and events. Bridal makeup is a major revenue stream in Sri Lanka. Freelance career common. A Day in the Life
A Makeup Artist's day involves consulting with clients, understanding their vision, preparing skin, applying various makeup techniques, and ensuring the final look is flawless and long-lasting for events, photoshoots, or productions.
- Consult with clients to understand their desired makeup look and occasion
- Prepare skin for makeup application (cleansing, moisturizing, priming)
- Apply foundation, concealer, contour, highlight, and blush
- Create eye makeup looks (eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, false lashes)
- Shape and fill eyebrows, and apply lip color
- Ensure makeup is long-lasting and suitable for photography/lighting
- Clean and sanitize makeup brushes and tools after each client
- Build and maintain a professional portfolio and social media presence
Work Environment
Works in diverse settings: bridal suites, photography studios, film sets, private homes, or salons. The environment can be fast-paced and high-pressure, especially for events, requiring adaptability and quick problem-solving.
Typical hours: 40h/week · WLB score 5/10 · REGULAR overtime
