A Day in the Life
Execute the day-to-day HR operations of the organisation — managing recruitment, employee records, payroll support, training coordination, and HR compliance — while developing skills toward a senior HR generalist career.
- Post job vacancies, screen CVs, and coordinate interview schedules
- Process employee joining, transfers, promotions, and separation documentation
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS and physical HR files
- Support monthly payroll preparation: attendance, leave, and overtime data
- Handle EPF/ETF contributions and statutory deduction compliance
- Coordinate training sessions: logistics, attendance, and post-training evaluations
- Respond to employee queries on HR policies, benefits, and leave entitlements
- Assist in performance appraisal administration and target-setting processes
Work Environment
HR department in a medium-to-large organisation. In Sri Lanka, HR Executives are foundational to HR teams across all industries. They typically report to an HR Manager or Head of HR and work alongside other HR specialists. Banks, manufacturing companies, FMCG organisations, telcos, and government bodies all employ HR Executives in significant numbers.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Generally good balance. Monthly payroll preparation week and recruitment peaks create short overtime periods.
