A Film Editor / Cinematographer splits their time between the meticulous work of post-production editing and the dynamic, on-set responsibilities of capturing visual footage. This dual role demands both technical editing prowess and a strong understanding of visual composition and lighting.
- Operating cameras and lighting equipment on set to capture high-quality footage
- Collaborating with the director to achieve the desired visual style
- Setting up shots, angles, and camera movements
- Reviewing raw footage and selecting the best takes for editing
- Assembling footage into a coherent narrative using editing software
- Applying color grading, visual effects, and sound design in post-production
- Managing and organizing media assets and project files
- Troubleshooting technical issues related to cameras, lighting, or editing software
Work Environment
This role involves working both on film sets (often outdoors, in various locations, or in studios) and in a post-production editing suite. The set environment can be dynamic, fast-paced, and physically demanding, while the editing suite is typically quiet and focused.
