A Digital Concept Artist/Illustrator spends their day bringing imaginative worlds and characters to life. This involves sketching, painting, and rendering visual concepts for games, films, and other digital media, often working from a brief to create mood boards, character designs, environment art, and keyframe illustrations.
- Read and interpret creative briefs to understand project requirements
- Develop initial sketches and thumbnails for concepts (characters, environments, props)
- Create detailed digital paintings and illustrations using graphic software
- Design character sheets, including expressions, poses, and costume details
- Develop environment concepts, establishing mood, lighting, and architectural styles
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from art directors and clients
- Maintain consistency in art style and visual language across projects
- Organize and manage digital art files and assets
