A Day in the Life
You carry out systematic maintenance and diagnostic work on vehicles in an authorised service centre — following OEM procedures, using manufacturer diagnostic systems, and maintaining quality standards that a general mechanic may not.
- Perform manufacturer-specified service schedules using OEM procedures and parts
- Use brand-specific diagnostic systems (Toyota TIS, Honda HDS, Suzuki SDS) for fault diagnosis
- Complete warranty repairs following manufacturer technical service bulletins (TSBs)
- Carry out multipoint vehicle health checks and produce customer reports
- Perform PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on new vehicle deliveries
- Maintain job card records accurately for service management system
- Work with factory-trained service advisors on customer vehicle issues
- Attend OEM training updates for new model technical requirements
Work Environment
Authorised dealer service workshop — clean, equipped with OEM tooling and diagnostic systems. More structured than independent garages. In Sri Lanka, primary locations are Toyota Lanka, DIMO, Unimo (Suzuki), Singer Motor (Honda), and other branded dealerships in Colombo, Kandy, Galle, and Jaffna.
