About This Role

A Day in the Life
You teach Religion and/or Ethics as a subject in Sri Lankan schools or colleges — covering Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, or Christian religion and ethics within the national curriculum, promoting moral literacy and inter-religious understanding.
- Design and deliver lessons on religious studies and ethical reasoning
- Guide students through O/L or A/L Religion and Ethics syllabus content
- Facilitate respectful discussion of different religious traditions and ethical viewpoints
- Set and mark examinations, assignments, and reflective essays
- Develop student moral reasoning through classroom discussion and activities
- Support students with ethical guidance and pastoral care
- Coordinate with other Social Studies teachers for interdisciplinary projects
- Participate in school religious ceremonies and inter-faith events
Work Environment
Classroom environment in government or private schools across Sri Lanka. Religion and Ethics teachers work in all regions — Sinhalese Buddhist schools, Tamil Hindu/Christian schools, and Muslim schools. Respectful, values-centred school culture.
Typical hours: 42h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
School calendar provides regular holidays. Exam marking periods create temporary workload spikes.
