A Day in the Life

A Shrimp Farm Technician is involved in the daily operations and management of shrimp aquaculture. This includes monitoring water quality, feeding shrimp, maintaining farm infrastructure, disease prevention, and harvesting, all to ensure optimal growth and health of the shrimp.

  • Monitor and maintain optimal water quality parameters (pH, salinity, oxygen, ammonia) in ponds.
  • Prepare and administer feed according to shrimp growth stages and feeding schedules.
  • Inspect shrimp health and behavior, identifying signs of stress or disease.
  • Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment (aerators, pumps, filters).
  • Clean and prepare ponds for new stocking cycles.
  • Record daily observations, feeding records, and growth data.
  • Assist with shrimp harvesting and post-harvest handling.
  • Implement biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
