About This Role

Tests biological products for purity, potency, and safety to comply with international standards like GMP.

A Day in the Life

You perform biological testing and analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet specified biological safety and quality standards.

Conduct biological assays and potency tests on pharmaceutical or biological products
Perform cell culture maintenance for biological testing
Execute sterility and bioburden tests according to pharmacopoeial methods
Prepare and review test records, analytical data, and certificates of analysis
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment used in biological testing
Investigate OOS (out-of-specification) results and prepare investigation reports
Participate in laboratory method validation activities
Maintain laboratory safety standards and biological containment protocols

Work Environment

LABTeam: SMALLUNIFORMRemote: NONE

Biological safety level 2 laboratory within a pharmaceutical, biotech, or research institution. In Sri Lanka, found at pharmaceutical manufacturers (Hemas, CIC pharma division), the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), NARA, and University of Colombo research labs.

Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 6/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Shift work possible in 24/7 pharmaceutical facilities. Testing deadlines create periodic overtime.
