A Day in the Life

You perform biological testing and analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet specified biological safety and quality standards.

  • Conduct biological assays and potency tests on pharmaceutical or biological products
  • Perform cell culture maintenance for biological testing
  • Execute sterility and bioburden tests according to pharmacopoeial methods
  • Prepare and review test records, analytical data, and certificates of analysis
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment used in biological testing
  • Investigate OOS (out-of-specification) results and prepare investigation reports
  • Participate in laboratory method validation activities
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and biological containment protocols

LABTeam: SMALLUNIFORMRemote: NONE

Biological safety level 2 laboratory within a pharmaceutical, biotech, or research institution. In Sri Lanka, found at pharmaceutical manufacturers (Hemas, CIC pharma division), the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), NARA, and University of Colombo research labs.

Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 6/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Shift work possible in 24/7 pharmaceutical facilities. Testing deadlines create periodic overtime.
