About This Role

Leads the development of internal technology products or tools that support the company's core operations.

A Day in the Life

You manage the reliability, scalability, and operational quality of technology products — bridging the gap between engineering operations and business outcomes.

  • Monitor product health metrics, SLAs, and incident response dashboards
  • Coordinate with DevOps and SRE teams on infrastructure capacity planning
  • Write runbooks, incident post-mortems, and operational process documentation
  • Prioritise tech debt and operational improvements in the engineering backlog
  • Lead stakeholder communication during major incidents and outages
  • Analyse operational data to identify reliability and performance improvement opportunities
  • Manage vendor and third-party service relationships affecting product uptime
  • Define and track KPIs for operational efficiency (MTTR, MTBF, uptime %)

Work Environment

Works closely with DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering teams. In Sri Lanka, common in telcos (Dialog, SLT), digital banking platforms (LankaClear, HNB Digital), and enterprise tech companies. Involves on-call rotation coordination during major outages.

Typical hours: 48h/week · WLB score 6/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Generally structured hours with occasional on-call coordination during incidents. Major outages require immediate response regardless of time.
