A Day in the Life

Advise organisations on improving their effectiveness — through leadership development, culture change, organisational design, capability building, and change management interventions that align people, structure, and strategy.

  • Diagnose organisational effectiveness challenges through data, interviews, and observation
  • Design and facilitate culture assessment and organisational health surveys
  • Develop leadership development programmes and high-potential talent pipelines
  • Design and execute organisational design (structure, spans, roles) interventions
  • Facilitate team effectiveness and cross-functional alignment workshops
  • Support executive team development and C-suite coaching
  • Develop OD project proposals and manage client or internal stakeholder relationships
  • Measure and report OD intervention outcomes

Consulting or internal HR/People function role. In Sri Lanka, OD Consultants are found at Big 4 HR advisory practices (KPMG, Deloitte), large conglomerates with internal OD teams (John Keells, Hemas), international NGOs (UNDP, UNICEF), and increasingly in independent OD consulting practices. This is a senior advisory role that combines HR, psychology, and organisational strategy.

Typical hours: 48h/week · WLB score 6/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Varies significantly by client engagement intensity. Consulting phases are demanding; between engagements, balance is good.
