About This Role
Leads the entire HR function of an organisation — people strategy, talent management, culture, and board-level HR reporting. MCIPM (Chartered Member of CIPM) or MBA in HR is typically required for this level. Key employers: JKH, Hemas, BOC, People's Bank, and top listed companies. Usually 15+ years of progressive HR experience required.
A Day in the Life
An HR Director or CHRO leads the entire human resources function, setting the people strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business goals. A day involves strategic planning, advising the board, overseeing talent management, culture, and ensuring HR contributes directly to business success.
- Develop and implement the overall HR strategy, policies, and initiatives aligned with the company's vision and objectives.
- Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on all people-related matters, including talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
- Oversee all HR functions: talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, employee relations, learning & development, and HR operations.
- Lead organizational design and change management efforts to support business growth and transformation.
- Drive a positive and inclusive company culture, fostering employee engagement and retention.
- Manage the HR budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
- Ensure compliance with all Sri Lankan labour laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks.
- Mentor and develop the HR team, building a high-performing and strategic HR function.
Work Environment
Operates in a high-level corporate environment, often interacting with the executive leadership team and board members. The role demands strategic vision, strong leadership, and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and external pressures.
