A Day in the Life
A Garment Merchandiser acts as the crucial link between international buyers and the manufacturing factory. Their day involves managing the entire order lifecycle, from product development and sample approval to production monitoring, quality assurance, and timely shipment. They communicate extensively, negotiate, and troubleshoot to ensure buyer specifications and deadlines are met.
- Receive buyer inquiries and translate design specifications into factory-ready instructions
- Coordinate with design, pattern, and sample departments for sample development and approval
- Source and approve fabrics, trims, and accessories according to buyer requirements
- Negotiate pricing, delivery dates, and payment terms with buyers and suppliers
- Monitor production progress closely, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines
- Conduct in-line and final inspections to ensure product quality and compliance
- Prepare and manage all necessary documentation, including purchase orders, tech packs, and shipping documents
- Communicate regularly with buyers on order status, production updates, and potential issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve any production, quality, or logistical challenges that arise
Work Environment
