A Day in the Life
A Freight Forwarder acts as an intermediary between shippers and transportation services, organizing the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. Their day involves coordinating logistics for sea, air, and land freight, preparing documentation, negotiating rates, tracking shipments, and resolving any issues that arise to ensure timely delivery.
- Receive booking requests from clients and determine optimal shipping routes and modes
- Negotiate freight rates with shipping lines, airlines, and trucking companies
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation (bills of lading, customs declarations, invoices)
- Coordinate with customs brokers for import/export clearance procedures
- Track shipments and provide regular updates to clients on their cargo's status
- Manage and resolve any logistical issues, delays, or discrepancies that occur during transit
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, agents, and clients
