A Day in the Life

You maintain and repair a large fleet of vehicles — buses, trucks, vans, or corporate cars — on a scheduled and breakdown basis, keeping the fleet operational to support logistics or transport operations.

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections)
  • Diagnose and repair breakdown vehicles to minimise fleet downtime
  • Complete fleet maintenance logs and service records for each vehicle
  • Coordinate spare parts ordering with the stores/procurement team
  • Inspect vehicles returning from operations for damage or defects
  • Perform tyre rotation, wheel alignment, and brake system maintenance
  • Conduct safety and roadworthiness checks before dispatch
  • Support emergency roadside repairs or recovery when breakdowns occur

Fleet maintenance workshop or depot — typically a large workshop with multiple vehicle lifts, a parts store, and a dedicated fleet management office. Sri Lankan fleets range from government bus companies (SLTB) to private logistics operators, hotel shuttle fleets, and corporate transport pools.
