A Day in the Life
A Fabric Quality Officer ensures that all fabrics used or produced in a manufacturing setting meet specified quality standards. This involves conducting various tests, inspecting incoming materials and finished goods, documenting findings, identifying defects, and collaborating with suppliers and production teams to resolve quality issues.
- Inspect incoming fabric rolls for defects, color consistency, and correct specifications
- Perform physical and chemical tests on fabric samples (e.g., tensile strength, tear strength, color fastness, shrinkage)
- Document all quality inspection results and maintain detailed records
- Identify and categorize fabric defects, providing feedback to suppliers or production
- Collaborate with suppliers to address and resolve quality non-conformances
- Work with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions for fabric-related issues
- Ensure compliance with international quality standards (e.g., ISO, AATCC, ASTM)
