About This Role

Runs the day-to-day operations of a tea processing factory — withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, and grading. Ensures quality output meets auction or direct export standards. Requires knowledge of orthodox and CTC tea processing. Promoted from assistant factory manager.

A Day in the Life

Manage the processing of green leaf into black, green, or white tea at a CTC or orthodox tea factory, maintaining production efficiency, quality standards, and machinery uptime.

  • Oversee withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying processes
  • Monitor tea grade outputs and adjust process parameters
  • Maintain machinery (CTC rollers, dryers, vibro-screens) and schedule preventive maintenance
  • Manage factory staff shifts and daily production targets
  • Conduct quality checks at each production stage and prepare grade analysis reports
  • Liaise with Tea Taster and auction coordinator on grade composition
  • Ensure food safety and HACCP compliance in factory operations

Factory environment with tea processing machinery — hot, humid, dusty, and noisy. Factory typically located on or near estate. Involves night shifts during peak plucking season.

Shift-based work including nights during peak leaf intake seasons. Physically demanding but housing and benefits provided.
