A Day in the Life
Soil and Land Remediation Specialists investigate contaminated sites, design remediation solutions, manage cleanup projects, and restore polluted land to safe and productive use through engineering and environmental science techniques.
- Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Design contaminated soil and groundwater remediation systems
- Oversee remediation contractors during cleanup operations
- Monitor remediation progress with soil and water sampling
- Prepare remediation plans and regulatory compliance reports
- Liaise with CEA and local authorities on contamination cases
- Assess remediation effectiveness and sign-off on site closure
Work Environment
Environmental consulting firm or regulatory authority. Mix of field site investigation and office technical reporting. Contaminated sites require full PPE.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Project-based field work adds variability. Generally good WLB in office phases.
