About This Role
Trains Sri Lankan migrant workers in job-specific skills, destination country orientation, legal rights, and basic language (Arabic, Korean, Japanese) before departure. NAITA (National Apprentice & Industrial Training Authority) runs the National Vocational Training Network for domestic workers (Household Services NVQ Level 2). TVEC instructor certification required.
A Day in the Life
Deliver mandatory pre-departure training to Sri Lankan migrant workers at NAITA or other approved training centres — preparing domestic workers, construction workers, and factory workers for safe and successful overseas employment.
- Facilitate pre-departure training sessions on employment rights and labour laws
- Train workers on financial literacy, remittance management, and savings
- Conduct destination country-specific cultural orientation sessions
- Teach basic language skills (Arabic, Korean, Japanese) for common work situations
- Facilitate sessions on personal safety, sexual harassment awareness, and emergency contacts
- Assess trainee competency at end of training and issue NAITA certificates
- Coordinate with SLBFE on training records and certification submission
Work Environment
NAITA training centres in Colombo and districts, or SLBFE-approved private training institutions. Classroom-based training with practical demonstrations for household appliance use and workplace safety.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
