About This Role

Operates and monitors thermal, hydro, or diesel power generating units at CEB power plants (Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant, Norochcholai; Kelanitissa; Victoria Hydro). Shift-based work controlling turbines, generators, and switchgear. Technical certificate/HND entry pathway available.

A Day in the Life

Operate and maintain thermal or hydro power generation units at CEB power plants (Norochcholai coal, Kelanitissa gas, Laxapana hydro, Kukule), ensuring safe and efficient electricity generation for the national grid.

  • Monitor boiler, turbine, and generator parameters from the control room
  • Execute plant start-up and shut-down procedures as per dispatch instructions
  • Record hourly readings and log plant performance data
  • Respond to alarms, investigate abnormalities, and take corrective action
  • Carry out scheduled equipment inspections during shift
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for planned and emergency outages
  • Maintain operational logbooks and prepare shift handover reports
