A Day in the Life
Dispense prescribed medications, counsel patients on drug use, ensure medication safety, and manage pharmaceutical inventory at government hospitals, private pharmacies, or hospital pharmacy departments across Sri Lanka.
- Review and dispense prescriptions accurately
- Counsel patients on medication use, dosage, and side effects
- Check for drug interactions and contraindications
- Manage pharmacy inventory and order pharmaceuticals
- Provide clinical pharmacy input in hospital ward rounds
- Compound specialized medications when required
- Maintain pharmaceutical records and dispensing logs
- Monitor controlled drug (narcotic) records under government regulations
Work Environment
Hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, or industrial pharmaceutical company. Government hospital pharmacies handle extremely high prescription volumes. Private pharmacy sector growing rapidly. Hospital clinical pharmacy is an emerging specialized role.
