A Day in the Life
Specialize in rehabilitation of patients with neurological conditions — stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis — using specialist neuro-physiotherapy techniques in Sri Lankan hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
- Assess neurological patients using standardized tools (Barthel, Berg Balance, FIM)
- Apply Bobath/NDT techniques for stroke and brain injury rehabilitation
- Design progressive rehabilitation programs for neurological recovery
- Conduct gait retraining and balance rehabilitation sessions
- Provide spasticity management including stretching and positioning
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and doctors
- Train families and caregivers in home management techniques
- Monitor functional outcomes and adjust treatment plans
Work Environment
Inpatient rehabilitation ward, stroke unit, or specialist neurological department. Multidisciplinary team environment. Patients range from acute stroke to chronic Parkinson's. Highly specialized and demanding clinical work.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 6/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
