A Day in the Life

Provide specialist occupational therapy for patients with mental health conditions — depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and addiction — in Sri Lanka's mental health hospitals, community mental health centers, and rehabilitation settings.

  • Assess occupational function and participation in mental health patients
  • Design activity-based therapeutic programs (art, cooking, gardening, work skills)
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on life skills and social participation
  • Conduct vocational rehabilitation assessments for return to work
  • Provide sensory modulation and relaxation programs
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers
  • Conduct home visits for community mental health patients
  • Monitor therapeutic outcomes and update care plans

Mental health hospital (National Institute of Mental Health, Angoda), community mental health center, or rehabilitation center. Therapeutic milieu setting with group and individual sessions. Requires high emotional resilience.
