A Day in the Life

Perform laboratory tests on patient samples (blood, urine, tissue) to support diagnosis and treatment at government hospitals, private diagnostic laboratories, and clinical research facilities in Sri Lanka.

  • Process blood, urine, and tissue samples for laboratory testing
  • Perform hematology tests (FBC, coagulation studies)
  • Conduct biochemistry analysis (liver function, renal profile, blood glucose)
  • Run microbiology cultures and sensitivity tests
  • Perform immunology and serology testing (HIV, hepatitis, dengue NS1)
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (analyzers, centrifuges)
  • Quality control laboratory results and report to clinicians
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards (biohazard protocols)

Work Environment

LABTeam: SMALLUNIFORMRemote: LOW

Clinical laboratory within a hospital or private diagnostic center. High-precision, safety-conscious environment. Works with hazardous biological specimens. Shift-based to cover 24/7 emergency diagnostic needs.

Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 5/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Shift work can disrupt WLB. Emergency lab coverage requires 24/7 availability. Private lab roles may have more regular hours.
