A Day in the Life

Design jewellery pieces — rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets — for Sri Lankan gem and jewellery companies, combining traditional Sinhalese and Tamil design motifs with contemporary aesthetics for local and export markets.

  • Sketch jewellery concepts by hand and develop designs using CAD software (RhinoGold, MatrixGold)
  • Create 3D models for client approval and wax casting preparation
  • Select gemstones from inventory to match design specifications
  • Liaise with goldsmiths and setters on production of approved designs
  • Develop seasonal collections for retail or export catalogues
  • Present designs to clients and incorporate feedback
  • Research global jewellery trends (international trade fairs, fashion media)

Work Environment
