A Day in the Life

IT Systems Engineers design, deploy, and maintain enterprise infrastructure — mornings handling server health checks and change requests, afternoons on system upgrades and configurations, evenings documenting and planning capacity.

Monitor server and network infrastructure health dashboards
Plan and execute system upgrades and patches
Configure and maintain virtualization environments (VMware/Hyper-V)
Troubleshoot hardware and OS-level failures
Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures
Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement and support
Document system configurations and maintain runbooks

Work Environment

Server room, data centre, or corporate IT department. Mostly desk-based with occasional physical server room work. Systematic and process-driven culture.

Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Generally good WLB with occasional overtime during system upgrades, migrations, or incident response. On-call rotation is common.
