About This Role
Provides dental care services to the public within government healthcare facilities.
A Day in the Life
Provide dental care to patients at government district hospitals, teaching hospitals, or oral health units across Sri Lanka. Delivers a full range of basic to intermediate dental treatments under the Ministry of Health.
- Conduct dental OPD sessions (extractions, fillings, scaling)
- Perform oral health screenings and preventive education
- Provide emergency dental care (acute abscess, trauma)
- Refer complex cases to specialist oral medicine departments
- Maintain dental records and government statistics (HMIS)
- Participate in school dental health programs and community outreach
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols
Work Environment
Government dental clinic within a hospital. High patient volumes with basic resources. Serves the majority of Sri Lanka's population who cannot afford private dental care. Rural postings are common.
