A Day in the Life

You ensure that Sri Lankan export products — from tea and spices to garments and food — meet international quality standards and buyer specifications before shipment. Your work protects Sri Lanka's reputation in global markets and ensures compliance with importing country regulations.

  • Inspect raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products against quality standards
  • Collect and test product samples in the quality control laboratory
  • Verify compliance with international standards (ISO, HACCP, buyer specifications)
  • Review and update quality management documentation and SOPs
  • Prepare quality reports and certificates of conformity for export shipments
  • Liaise with SLSI (Sri Lanka Standards Institution) for certification and testing
  • Train production staff on quality standards and corrective actions
  • Audit supplier and manufacturing processes for quality gaps
  • Handle buyer quality complaints and implement corrective action plans
  • Monitor calibration and maintenance of testing equipment
