About This Role

Operates X-ray, CT, and MRI machines to produce images for medical diagnosis.

A Day in the Life

Perform diagnostic imaging examinations — X-rays, CT scans, MRI, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound — at hospitals and imaging centers across Sri Lanka. Operate complex imaging equipment and produce high-quality images for radiologist interpretation.

  • Position patients correctly for X-ray, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy examinations
  • Operate radiography, CT, and MRI equipment
  • Apply radiation protection principles (ALARA) to minimize patient dose
  • Verify patient identity and clinical history before examinations
  • Process and archive digital images in PACS system
  • Monitor patient safety during imaging procedures
  • Maintain imaging equipment and report technical faults
  • Prepare and administer contrast media for CT/MRI when required

Work Environment

LABTeam: SMALLUNIFORMRemote: LOW

Radiology department within a hospital or standalone imaging center. Controlled radiation environment with strict safety protocols. Works closely with radiologists and referring clinicians. 24/7 emergency imaging requires shift coverage.

Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 5/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime

Shift work required for emergency radiology coverage. Regular daytime shifts in most facilities. WLB generally manageable.
