A Day in the Life
A Waste Management & Recovery Lead oversees the entire waste management process for an organization or municipality. This involves developing and implementing waste reduction strategies, managing recycling programs, ensuring safe disposal, and leading a team. They spend time on planning, coordination, site visits, and reporting.
- Develop and implement comprehensive waste management strategies and policies
- Oversee recycling, composting, and waste-to-energy programs
- Manage waste collection, sorting, and disposal operations
- Ensure compliance with local and national environmental regulations
- Lead and train a team of waste management officers and operators
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement
- Prepare budgets, track expenses, and report on waste metrics
- Research and integrate new waste recovery technologies and best practices
Work Environment
