About This Role
Manages voice over IP communication systems.
A Day in the Life
Design, deploy, and maintain VoIP telephony systems, configure IP PBX platforms, troubleshoot call quality issues, and manage unified communications infrastructure.
- Configure and manage IP PBX systems
- Troubleshoot VoIP call quality issues (jitter, latency)
- Manage SIP trunks and PSTN gateways
- Monitor VoIP network performance and QoS
- Plan and deploy unified communications solutions
- Manage dial plans and extension routing
- Conduct capacity planning for call volumes
- Document VoIP architecture and configurations
Work Environment
Telecommunications and IT convergence role. Works with network engineers and business communication teams. Mix of design and support work.
Typical hours: 45h/week · WLB score 7/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Telephony outages can require urgent response but generally predictable.
