About This Role
Planning and implementing government strategies to develop new tourist destinations.
A Day in the Life
Support tourism development programs at district or provincial level — coordinating local attractions, assisting community tourism initiatives, and implementing SLTDA-mandated development activities.
- Conduct field assessments of tourism attractions and facilities in assigned districts
- Assist local communities in developing tourism products (homestays, village tours)
- Coordinate with local government authorities on tourism signage and infrastructure
- Collect and report tourism statistics and visitor data for SLTDA
- Support implementation of national tourism development programs at ground level
- Liaise between tourism operators and regulatory bodies for permits and compliance
- Participate in district-level tourism promotion events and trade fairs
- Prepare progress reports on development activities for senior managers
Work Environment
District SLTDA offices, rural tourism communities, local government offices. Heavy field work visiting villages, attractions, and tourism operators in assigned territory. Government service environment with regular travel.
Typical hours: 42h/week · WLB score 8/10 · RARE overtime
Government service hours. Field visits require early starts but schedule is generally predictable. Good work-life balance overall.
