A Day in the Life
You sell technical products or solutions — combining product knowledge with consultative selling to identify client needs, demonstrate technical value, and close deals in B2B markets.
- Identify and prospect new B2B clients through cold calling, networking, and referrals
- Conduct technical product demonstrations and proof-of-concept presentations
- Understand client technical requirements and match them to product capabilities
- Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations, and RFP responses
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, and service terms to close deals
- Maintain the sales pipeline in CRM and report progress to the Sales Manager
- Coordinate with presales engineers and product teams for complex deals
- Build and maintain client relationships for repeat business and upsell opportunities
Work Environment
Client-facing field role combining office base with frequent client site visits. In Sri Lanka, technical sales executives work across IT (Dialog Enterprise, Virtusa, SoftLogic IT), industrial equipment, medical devices, engineering products, and laboratory supplies. Significant travel within Colombo and major cities.
Typical hours: 50h/week · WLB score 5/10 · COMMON overtime
Field-heavy role with client meetings, travel, and deal-closing pressure. Month-end and quarter-end target pressure regularly extends working hours.
