A Day in the Life
You teach Hinduism and/or Philosophy at secondary or tertiary level in Sri Lanka, guiding students through Hindu religious thought, philosophical systems (Vedanta, Nyaya, Mimamsa), and their application to contemporary ethical questions.
- Design and deliver lessons on Hindu philosophical systems and religious texts
- Guide A/L students through Hinduism and Philosophy examination syllabus
- Facilitate Socratic discussion on philosophical questions and ethical dilemmas
- Set and mark examination papers, assignments, and student presentations
- Prepare students for University of Sri Lanka entrance examinations in Philosophy
- Support students with philosophical and spiritual questions through pastoral guidance
- Engage with university or college academic community for curriculum development
- Participate in inter-religious dialogue events and academic conferences
Work Environment
School or university classroom environment. Tertiary-level Hinduism and Philosophy is taught at University of Jaffna, University of Peradeniya, and Eastern University. Secondary-level positions are in Tamil-medium government and private schools in the North, East, and Colombo.
