A Day in the Life

Systems Analysts bridge business needs and IT solutions — gathering requirements from stakeholders, analysing current systems, designing process improvements, writing functional specifications, and ensuring implemented systems meet business objectives.

Conduct requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders
Analyse existing systems and business processes for improvement opportunities
Write business requirements documents (BRD) and functional specifications
Model processes using BPMN, flowcharts, and use cases
Liaise between development teams and business users
Review and test implemented systems against requirements
Manage stakeholder sign-off and change requests

Corporate IT department, consulting firm, or system integrator. Bridge role requiring both business-facing and technical environments. Meeting-heavy but also documentation-intensive.
