A Day in the Life
A Sustainable Food Systems Analyst spends their day evaluating the environmental footprint of food production, from farm to fork. This involves collecting and analyzing data, conducting life cycle assessments, and developing strategies for companies to improve their ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) compliance within their supply chains.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for various food products and processes
- Collect and analyze data on resource consumption, waste generation, and emissions in food supply chains
- Develop and implement ESG compliance frameworks for food businesses
- Identify areas for environmental impact reduction and efficiency improvements
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for clients or internal stakeholders
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics
- Stay updated on global and local sustainable food system trends and regulations
Work Environment
Primarily an office-based role, involving extensive computer work, data analysis, and report writing. May include occasional field visits to farms, processing plants, or client sites for data collection and assessment. Collaboration with a small team and clients is common.
