A Day in the Life

Manage a resort property's day-to-day operations — ensuring smooth guest experiences, team performance, quality standards, and commercial results.

  • Lead morning operations briefing with department supervisors
  • Inspect resort facilities (rooms, pools, dining, gardens, beach) for quality standards
  • Handle guest relations, VIP arrivals, and service recovery
  • Monitor occupancy, RevPAR, and F&B revenue against daily targets
  • Address operational challenges across housekeeping, F&B, activities, and maintenance
  • Manage staffing levels for peak and off-peak periods
  • Review online reviews (TripAdvisor, Booking.com) and implement improvements
  • Prepare management reports for ownership or head office

Work Environment

Beach, jungle, lake, or hill country resort property. Seasonal demand patterns (December–March beach season; July–August Yala/Udawalawe season). Full property management responsibility.

Typical hours: 60h/week · WLB score 4/10 · COMMON overtime

Live-on or near property management in many resort settings. Peak season extremely demanding. International resort packages include accommodation.
