About This Role
Designs solar PV, wind, and hybrid energy systems for domestic and industrial applications.
A Day in the Life
Design integrated renewable energy systems — combining solar PV, battery storage, grid connection, and energy management — to create optimised energy solutions for commercial, industrial, and utility clients.
- Design hybrid energy systems — solar + battery + grid or solar + diesel + battery (off-grid)
- Optimise system sizing using simulation tools — minimise LCOE (Levelised Cost of Energy)
- Design battery energy storage systems (BESS) — sizing, chemistry selection, BMS specification
- Prepare detailed system designs — single-line diagrams, cable sizing, inverter specifications
- Simulate load profiles and energy balance for client energy consumption patterns
- Design monitoring and energy management systems (SCADA/EMS for renewable assets)
- Specify and support procurement of renewable energy equipment
- Prepare technical documentation for client handover and O&M teams
Work Environment
Office-based technical design role with periodic site visits for commissioning and monitoring. Renewable Energy Systems Designers often work for EPC companies, energy consulting firms, or equipment suppliers.
