A Day in the Life
You are the first point of contact for visitors and callers — managing front desk operations, directing enquiries, coordinating appointments, and ensuring the office reception area runs smoothly.
- Greet and welcome visitors, register them, and direct them to the appropriate person
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls
- Manage the appointment calendar and meeting room booking system
- Receive, sort, and distribute daily mail and courier deliveries
- Maintain the reception area — keep it clean, professional, and presentable
- Provide basic administrative support (photocopying, filing, data entry)
- Coordinate visitor access passes and security badge management
- Handle visitor complaints or queries professionally and escalate when needed
Work Environment
Front desk role in a corporate office, hospital, hotel, law firm, bank, or government institution. In Sri Lanka, receptionists are present in virtually all formal organisations — from five-star hotels to government ministries. Requires consistent professional appearance and bilingual (Sinhala/English) communication ability.
