Their day involves conducting regular inspections, monitoring radiation levels, developing and implementing safety procedures, providing training, and managing radioactive materials and waste according to strict guidelines.
- Conducting routine radiation surveys and environmental monitoring
- Developing, implementing, and updating radiation safety programs and procedures
- Ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials and waste
- Providing comprehensive radiation safety training to all relevant personnel
- Investigating radiation incidents or near-misses and recommending corrective actions
- Maintaining accurate records of radiation exposure, equipment calibration, and waste manifests
- Performing risk assessments and implementing control measures to minimize exposure
- Liaising with regulatory authorities (e.g., Atomic Energy Board) to ensure compliance
Work Environment
