A Day in the Life
You lead the entire Quality Assurance function for an organisation — setting quality strategy, managing the QA team, owning regulatory compliance, and driving a culture of quality across all business operations.
- Develop and own the annual QA strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead and manage the QA team — hiring, performance management, and development
- Present quality KPIs, audits, and compliance status to the Board or senior management
- Own all customer and regulatory audit responses and corrective action plans
- Approve critical quality decisions (product release, recall initiation, supplier qualification)
- Drive continuous improvement programmes across manufacturing or service operations
- Manage the Quality Management System (ISO 9001 or sector-specific) and its certification
- Build quality culture through training programmes and cross-functional engagement
Work Environment
Senior management role in manufacturing, pharma, food, or service organisations. In Sri Lanka, QA Managers are found at Nestlé Lanka, Unilever SL, Hemas, CIC, MAS Holdings, and major private hospitals. Regular interaction with the CEO, regulatory authorities, and international customers.
Typical hours: 50h/week · WLB score 5/10 · OCCASIONAL overtime
Senior management role with significant responsibility. Audit seasons, product crises, and regulatory inspections demand extended availability.
